About Lardos
In 1886, the area where Lardo Grill and Saloon now stands was a small gold mining town called Lardo. The name, as the story goes, came from a freight hauler's misfortune. The road into town was steep, rough, and rocky, and on one trip, the jostling burst open sacks of flour and popped the lids off pails of lard. When the driver went to unload and saw the mess, he exclaimed in a southern drawl: "Lard, Oh — Lardo!" — lard and dough.
